Some of Derek Walker’s earliest memories contain discovering how to draw from his father and cousin. Walker loved to attract cars and trucks, specially Lamborghinis, as a boy.

Currently the Cleveland of Institute of Art senior is setting up his voice as an artist in Cleveland with his paintings showcasing hometown visuals and iconography.

Walker is a graduate of the Cleveland College of the Arts and been given a exclusive option when the college moved into its new creating.

“My class of learners were 1 of the initial students to truly enroll into the setting up, because it was newly created and they required to make the university a bit much more welcoming to the pupils,” Walker stated. “So, they invited various artists of the faculty to build murals on all of the blank partitions.”

For his mural, Walker took inspiration from African American artist Kehinde Wiley acknowledged for his portraits of folks like Barack and Michelle Obama.
