Viewers lash out at ABC’s Australia Day Live concert at the Sydney Opera House: ‘Have they sung a single song younger than 40 years ago yet?’

Viewers have criticised ABC’s Australia Day Live event at the Sydney Opera House on Thursday night.

The event featured performances from some of the country’s biggest stars including Casey Donovan, Dami Im and Christine Anu.

But many viewers weren’t impressed with the concert and flocked to social media to criticise the sound quality as well as the song choices.

Donovan has recently undergone a dramatic slim-down thanks to Jenny Craig

‘Maybe cut down on all the talking in between the entertainment so we can enjoy the actual entertainment? #AustraliaDayLive,’ one person Tweeted.

Another questioned: ‘Have they sung a single song younger than 40 years ago yet? #AustraliaDayLive.’

‘You know the sound-engineering and acoustics aren’t good when Dami Im sounds off. #AustraliaDay #AustraliaDayLive,’ a third wrote.

However, some viewers enjoyed the show, with one writing: ‘So beautiful, I was so impressed by the quality of the show, the performers, the music, the water acts, the lighting, the co ordinated fireworks it had something for everyone. Casey Donavon was superb & Jeremy Fernandez was his usual immaculate self.’

‘Lovely to hear one of the most beautiful #opera pieces the Flowers Duet @ABCTV #AustraliaDayLive,’ another said.

William Barton and Isaiah Firebrace joined Dami and Christine on stage at the event.
